A+ certification validates the skills that are required for troubleshooting as well as configuration of the PC operating system (may be software and hardware). This certification is awarded from computer technology industry association (comp TIA). For obtaining this A+ certification, candidates are required to take up an exam which is of computer based. Examination is conducted by any of the VUE test centers or prometric test centers. Pre-requisites are not necessary for obtaining the certification or applying for the examination. Examination fee costs around 90 to 225 USD and they are subject to change due to exchange rates and local taxes.

A+ certification examination:

As mentioned earlier, for obtaining A+ certification, candidates are required to take up two examinations.

1) Exam 220-301 or A+ core hardware

2) Exam 220-302 or A+ operating system technology.

2) Troubleshooting and diagnosing

3) Memory/ processing/ motherboard

4) Preventive maintenance

5) Networking (basic)

6) Printers

3) Troubleshooting and diagnosis

All questions in these examinations are in adaptive format. Candidates need to score minimum scale points in the examination to pass and obtain the certification.

A+ certification course is like self study method. Candidates have to prepare from their own. It will take some around 3 months approximately to complete the course (studying).

If a candidate has some basic knowledge in computer servicing as well as assembling, then it an easier job to prepare for examination and also can finish studying in less than a month. However, if a candidate is completely new to computer software and hardware, then the study period may extend up to 5 months approximately.
