    What is shingles?

Shingles is a type of rash most commonly caused by the herpes zoster virus. It can affect any part of the body.

    Is shingles painful?

The symptoms of shingles vary depending on where the virus surfaces although can include a very painful shingles rash and open blisters. Phases of shingles and early shingles symptoms include, muscle pain, shingles on face, facial paralysis (particularly among those who have suffered a chickenpox serotype), fever, shingles in the eye, headache, fatigue, and generally feeling unwell. Shingles rash normally lasts for 2-4 weeks. Shingles can also cause fever, headache, fatigue, chills and upset tummy.

    Shingles contagious? Shingles causes?

Is shingles contagious? Yes. Shingles causes? There are two ways for a person to contract shingles: through direct contact with someone who has the virus or through exposure to the herpes zoster / varicella-zoster virus. The varicella-zoster virus is the same virus that causes chickenpox.

After a person recovers from chickenpox, the disease remains inactive in the body. However, it can reactivate later in life and cause shingles. The condition has been produced many nicknames, commonly known as the burning discomfort. An individual who gets this disease may take a long time to properly recover from it.

    Prevention of Shingles

The simplest way to prevent shingles is always to strengthen the immune system. Preferably, within a way that will not cause any stress to your body, or compromise an already weakened immune system. This should be done naturally and gradually, as there is no magic pill.

This approach is justified as the virus lies dormant in the body, in some people, and has the potential to reactivate later in life and causes shingles. It is prudent to strengthen the body with the least possible distress. Ie: avoiding possible triggers, such as stress or processed foods.
