    The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by everyone.

    In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

    It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban, and the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile close to the Kerem junction.

    On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists were present at a celebration to inaugurate the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.

    Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich history. Elkin stated that the current tourism industry is one of Jerusalem’s historic treasures and incorporates modern day tourism. “The opening (of [this] tunnel project is a further step in the development of Jerusalem as well as it’s transformation into a sought-after tourist city for all sorts of people throughout Israel as well as around the world.”

    The works currently underway include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced safety and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for pedestrians to travel through at all times of the year.
