The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by everyone.

In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban, and the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile close to the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists were present at a celebration to inaugurate the tunnel’s 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich history. Elkin stated that the current tourism industry is one of Jerusalem’s historic treasures and incorporates modern day tourism. “The opening (of [this] tunnel project is a further step in the development of Jerusalem as well as it’s transformation into a sought-after tourist city for all sorts of people throughout Israel as well as around the world.”

Elkin the minister whose ministry as well as the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, said that the Jerusalem Municipality’s ministry “invests hundreds of millions of shekels each year in the development all aspects Jerusalem’s tourists and in the design and operation of new attractions, ventures , and other attractions that connect the glorious history of Jerusalem’s eternal city to the future”. Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project was a key tool in realizing the vision of altering the way of transportation throughout Jerusalem. “The new tunnel that connects to Jerusalem Ring Path will join the existing bike paths as well as ones that are paved in its areas. In the 90s In the 90s, in the 1990s, Kerem Tunnel was excavated to transfer the main sewer line from Gihon Corporation to the Sorek purification plant. It is currently used for infrastructure purposes. It also houses the fifth water line which is operated to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water company.

The works currently underway include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced safety and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for pedestrians to travel through at all times of the year.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to special recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the biblical aquarium and zoo as well as the natural springs of historical significance Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
