Travelling Around Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a country filled with Scenic beauty from lovely central highlands to the beautiful tropical beaches, attracting tourists from all around the world to this exquisite Island also known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Every year tourists visit here is improving and here are some reasons for this constant increase.

Beaches

The Island is surrounded by the most beautiful tropical beaches like Unawatuna beach, Bentota lagoon, Arugam bay situated in the far East coast, Mirissa beach which is said to be a paradise land and Uppuveli are a few of the best beaches you could visit during your time in Sri Lanka.

Cultural Heritage

Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kandy and many cities around the country have rich cultural Heritages and ruins that you could visit and learn about. These places show the 3000-year-old history and the technology used during those times by the ancient people of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is a country with many National Parks and Forest Reserves.

You can discover the mysteries hidden inside caves by going on cave tours to Batatotalena, Belilena Cave, Wavulpone Cave, Mahalenama Cave etc. You can find these caves spread out in the central and southern hills of the island.

Rock Climbing

The Central lads of Sri Lanka have many Natural rocks formations in areas like Sigiriya, Dambulla, Adam’s Peak, the Knuckles mountain range etc. The surrounding beauty of nature also adds a more adventurous element to the rock climbing challenge.

A walk through the Rainforests

Walking in the tropical rainforests of Sri Lanka you can see different species of Birds, butterflies and insects although you will have to keep an eye on spiders and snakes.

Train Travel

Travelling around the country in trains is said to be a comfortable and eye-catching journey by many people who have been here. The route from Colombo- Pollonaruwa and Kandy- Ella are incredibly cheap and a breathtaking journey.

Sri Lanka also is known to be a Multi cultured country hence there are verities of colourful festivals and cultural events. The Vesak festival, the Esala Perahera, Sinhala-Tamil New year and many other cultural festivals can be seen during different times of the year.
